Benefits of Lemon Water in the Morning

Start Your Day with Warm Lemon Water

Morning routines can set the stage for the rest of our day.  Drinking warm lemon water can boost your energy and promote your overall health.

Why Drink Warm Lemon Water in the Morning?

While you sleep, your bodies go through a fasting period while your cells repair and regrow. Drinking lemon water in the morning can help rehydrate your body after a long period without water.

Warm water is much more gentle on the digestive system, allowing easy absorption and digestion. Unlike cold water or ice water, that can shock the body, causing it to tense up rather than be in a calm and relaxing state. Think of it like jumping into a cold swimming pool versus a warm pool. In the cold swimming pool, your body tenses up. But in a warm pool, your body is calm, and your muscles are relaxed. Aside from your warm cup of water in the morning, it is always a good idea to drink warm or room temperature water.

You may say, "but lemons are so acidic to have first thing in the morning." The answer is yes, they are, but only outside the body. When lemons are consumed, they are alkalizing, helping the body balance its pH levels. Balanced pH levels can help promote healthy cell function.

Lemons are a great source of vitamin C, calcium, potassium, magnesium, fiber, and iron. Adding lemon to your morning water cup helps rehydrate your body while absorbing vital nutrients and antioxidants.

In addition, lemons have anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties. Along with high levels of vitamin C

How to make lemon water?

Lemon water is easy to make. All you need is clean water and a lemon.

  1. Heat good quality water. I use an electric water heater kettle.

  2. Add warm water to a coffee mug.

  3. Wash the lemons, cut them into wedges, and squeeze a wedge of lemon into the water. I like to keep the wedge in my water.

  4. Enjoy!

You can also add a slice of ginger or honey to the water.
