How to Train your brain to think Positively?

Why is it so important to train your brain to think positively? An average person has approximately 60,000 thoughts daily, and eighty percent of those thoughts are negative.

But why do we think so many negative thoughts? Childhood experiences, past trauma, and societal expectations have conditioned our subconscious minds to think negatively.

We know that like attracts like. That means with every negative thought, you attack more negativity into your life. Negative thoughts include thoughts of anger, fear, guilt, shame, and worry all cause you to vibrate n a lower frequency. Whereas thoughts of love, hope, peace, confidence, and kindness cause you to vibrate on higher frequencies and attract more positivity into your life.

How can you train your brain to think positively?

When you train your brain to think more positively, you begin to vibrate on a higher frequency attracting abundance in your life. Training your brain is about being aware of your thoughts and flipping the switch.

Becoming aware of your thoughts

The first step is becoming aware of your thoughts. You can always control every thought you have, but with practice, you can shift your thinking.

To become aware of your thoughts you also need to be aware of how the thought is making you feel. Negative thoughts of fear, worry, anger or shame may cause an increased heart rate, shortness of breath, or a sick feeling in your gut. These are all low vibrational feelings caused by your negative thinking.

On the other hand, positive thoughts of love, hope, kindness, gratitude and courage all bring about an urge to smile, an uncontrollable giggle, a warm feeling in the heart, or long easy breathing. These are high vibrational feelings caused by your positive thinking.

Recognizing when your thoughts are negative or positive is the first step in training your brain.

Flipping the switch

The next step is flipping the switch by replacing the negative thought with a positive thought. Understanding that thoughts are just that, they are thoughts, and YOU are in control of your thoughts.

How do you flip the switch?

  1. When you notice a negative thought, stop and take three deep breaths.

  2. Replace the negative thought with a positive thought

    • Instead of… “I can’t do this,” flip the switch to “This may be hard, but I can do anything I put my mind to.”

    • Instead of… “I am not good enough,” flip the switch to “I am important. I am loved.”

    • Instead of… “I am having a bad day,” flip the switch to “Today is a great day. I am so grateful to be alive.”

  3. Repeat the new positive thought 3 times.

  4. Take one more deep breath.

  5. Smile.

When you focus on positive thoughts and let go of negativity, you will see a drastic improvement in your life.
